Clark Jones, Co-Owner and Coach of “Play Ball Right” has a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer his students. Clark was born and raised in South Haven, Michigan where he was a baseball and football standout at South Haven High School and was later elected to the South Haven Ram Hall of Fame in 2003. Clark played both football and baseball at Central Michigan University where he was fortunate enough to have played on three Mid-American Conference Championships in ’87, ’88, and’90. After his collegiate playing career, Coach Jones was the hitting coach at Ohio University where the Bobcats led the MAC in hitting and won the Mid-American Conference Championship in ’91.In ’92 Jones served as an Associate Scout for the New York Yankees. Coach Jones later went on to become the Head Baseball Coach at Elmhurst College from ’93 – ’06 where he became the all time leader in coaching victories and was named coach of the year in the CCIW in ’97.In ’06, Jones moved to Rochester, Minnesota where he started “Play Ball Right”. In addition to his business responsibilities, he is the Assistant Baseball Coach at Rochester Community and Technical College, and is an Associate Scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks in charge of the state of Minnesota and covers the Northwoods League. Coach Jones is also a coach and recruiter for the United States Baseball Stars, where he has guided teams on trips to Australia, Germany, Holland, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Kim Jones, co-owner of “Play Ball Right” comes to Rochester, Minnesota after building one of the most well known and respected softball academies in the Chicagoland area, “Jonesdugout”. In Chicago, Coach Jones serviced 104 young ladies ranging in ages from 9 yrs old through the college ranks. 15 of Coach Jones’s pitchers went on to pitch at the collegiate level with four playing Division I Softball at Eastern Michigan, Eastern Illinois, Illinois, and Boston College. Growing up in Michigan, Coach Jones was a standout pitcher at Marysville High School before pitching at St. Clair Community College. After playing at St. Clair, Coach Jones attended Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelors Degree in Education. Coach Jones’s coaching journey began at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, Illinois in the early 90’s. While coaching at the high school level Coach Jones also gave lessons at Grand Slam, Inc. a baseball academy in Chicago. After her brief high school stint, Coach Jones was hired as the pitching coach at Elmhurst College where she took a pitching staff that was ranked at the bottom of the CCIW, and turned it into on of the top staffs in the CCIW from ’96- ’98. After leaving Elmhurst College, she opened up her own softball academy, “Jonesdugout” which was in operation until her move to Minnesota in ’07 where she is currently the pitching coach at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. During the summer of ‘2000, Coach Jones was chosen as the pitching coach for the Swedish National Softball Team in Sweden and also played internationally in the Netherlands. Kim specializes in pitching, but also coaches catchers and hitters. Coach Jones resides in Rochester, with her husband Clark.
